Once upon a time there were two people who were trying to find the love of their dreams…the person who God had in mind for them, to help them grow and develop personally and spiritually, and the "someone" to be their life-long companion.  This was not an easy task.  Finding two people whose hearts beat together is hard enough as it is, but it is even more difficult as the lake gets fished out.  Neither of them was looking for "the perfect" person, but both were looking for the person who would complement them, and be the friend of friends who would last a lifetime.

The man led a busy life, flittering off to places around the world, sunning himself at ocean beaches (under the guise of "working" in Monterey), and mentoring his many young people.  He also had gotten into art collecting, and had started to establish himself a little art museum in his home. As providence would have it, he finally stayed around Washington long enough to start his ol' entertaining-of-guests routine again, and who should come to visit him but his dad's cousin.  This lady had a plan in mind.   Her best friend had a niece.  So these two ladies fabricated an elaborate scheme.  Under the guise of looking at artwork, these ladies decided to invite themselves over to the man's house, with niece in tow.  So the gentleman that he is, made homemade tea, prepared to serve Canadian-made Monster Cookies and awaited their arrival one evening.  They never showed.  Well, actually, that last sentence is not true. In fact, they did show up at the man's door, and there hidden behind the two ladies was this fabled niece, shyly cowering behind them, just outside the front door.  (Ok, so maybe she wasn't exactly cowering behind them, but since I am telling the story, I guess it is my poetic license, right?)  But what is true is that the man and the woman had a nice time of conversation, munching on the cookies, and sipping the herb tea.  Later that week, after a couple of emails, they decided that developing a friendship would be a very good and proper thing to do.  And as spring moved to summer, and summer moved to autumn and autumn moved to winter, it became evident, even in the midst of the man's travel all over the place and the built-in international kid chaperones that he often had in tow, etc., these two pre-nuptials saw that this relationship, built on friendship, was indeed grounds for marriage.  God was certainly in this: from bringing the girl to the guy's front door, to the receipt of Corvettes, wonderful kitchen appliances and other small things at Christmastime.

In the end, two pretty neat people found each other.  So the two people that folks had given up on in ever finding a spouse are indeed tying the knot on the 9th of July, 2005.  No shotgun.  No coercion.  Just joy and anticipation of what God will do through the lives of these two people together.  If you are looking at this wedsite, I mean website, you have apparently been invited to this matrimonial celebration that will take place before God and man, complete with a wide array of domestic and international guests, and most importantly, God's own presence.
