Some photos of the process I took with the painting, "Did You See That?"
I am doing a painting of three kids standing at a river, skipping rocks. Since this will be the first time I have actually included people as a focus of a picture, I decided to
sketch out the layout of the picture. In my last five pictures I had not done any sketching...just blocked out the picture with a paintbrush.
I did my darks one night, and then let it dry overnight. I had included medium to help speed up the drying time.
I washed the river in a fairly bright green and then added my river rocks within the water.
I then added the sand and river rocks alongside the shore.
I then added my dark greens to the background.
I then added more detail to the trees and bushes. After this, I will let the picture dry again...because I will be jumping into more detail with the bridge and people (scary!)
and will not want the paint to smear with the adjacent colours.
After allowing the oils to dry a day, I continued on the canvas by painting the bridge and detailing some in the shore rocks. Trying to keep paint straight lines, and then adding three dimensional
lighting takes me some time for things like the bridge. I also needed to add a bit more dark under the bridge after it had been placed in the picture for proper placement of the bridge shadow.
The completed painting entitled, "DidYou See That?" The lighting is not really correct on this photo,
but at least you can see the completed picture.
